Shopify Setup

The Tradeleap Shopify app syncs your tiers and pricing to your store and applies wholesale discounts natively at checkout. It works on all Shopify plans.

1. Install the app

Start from your Tradeleap account and follow the Shopify connection flow for your store. You'll be sent to Shopify to approve the app's permissions (products, customers, discounts, and orders — used only to sync pricing data). Once approved, the app appears in your Shopify admin under Apps, and your store is linked to your Tradeleap dashboard.

2. How discounts work

Tradeleap uses Shopify Functions — Shopify's native discount extensibility — rather than discount codes or draft orders. On install, the app registers an automatic discount powered by the Tradeleap discount function. At checkout, the function:

  1. Reads the logged-in customer's wholesale tier.
  2. Reads each cart line's pricing data (tier discounts, product overrides, collection pricing, and volume breaks), which the app keeps synced as metafields.
  3. Applies the best applicable price to each line — automatically, with no code for the customer to enter.

Because the discount runs inside Shopify's own checkout, it's compatible with every plan — Basic, Shopify, Advanced, and Plus.

3. Sync your pricing

Manage tiers, customer assignments, and pricing rules from your Tradeleap dashboard (see Wholesale Tiers). Tradeleap writes this data to your store as app-owned metafields — the customer's tier level on the customer record, and per-tier pricing on products and variants. Sync runs when you save changes, so the checkout always uses your latest rules.

4. Theme widgets

The app ships a theme app extension so wholesale customers can see their prices before checkout:

  1. In Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes → Customize.
  2. Open a product template and click Add block in the product information section.
  3. Under Apps, add the Tradeleap wholesale pricing block.

Logged-in tier customers then see their wholesale price alongside the regular price on product pages. Retail visitors see no change.

Troubleshooting

  • Prices not applying at checkout? Make sure the customer is logged in and assigned to a tier, and that the Tradeleap automatic discount is active under Discounts in your Shopify admin.
  • Widget not visible? Confirm the app block was added to your product template and that you're viewing the page as a logged-in tier customer.
